Our Shetland story began on a brisk morning in September 2015. We had just disembarked the MV Hjaltland for the first time, following a whim sparked a few weeks earlier while hiking the West Highland Way. My wife, an avid knitter, had discovered "Shetland Wool Week" and said, "I want to visit." I replied, "Why not?"
We fell in love with the islands immediately; First the landscape, then the people. In July 2021, during our fifth visit, we stayed at the South Lodberrie for a month. We knew then that we had found our place. After some wonderful discussions with the previous owners, Ingrid and Mike, we became the proud owners.
While we plan to live here most of the year, we are delighted to share our home with guests from November through June.
Kareene and Gil.
Perched on the water's edge, South Lodberrie is unique in both location and design. Formed from two historic Lodberrie properties within a conservation area, the house overlooks the famous "Jimmy Perez house" from the BBC series Shetland.
While the exterior is steeped in history, the interior was reconstructed to provide a modern, luxury experience. We have recently installed new triple-glazed windows throughout to ensure a warm, quiet, and peaceful environment. Spread over two floors, the home is designed as a spacious retreat for couples but can comfortably accommodate up to four people upon request.
